• 1963 - The State of Tennessee declared it to be Lester Flatt Day.
• 1966 - Elvis Presley's movie Paradise Hawaiian Star premiered.
• 1969 - Brian Jones announced he was leaving the Rolling Stones.
• 1970 - East German police impounded Deep Purple's equipment truck when they drove too close to the border.
• 1974 - Rick Wakeman announced he was leaving Yes.
• 1984 - Billy Joel played Wembley Stadium in London with the show later broadcast on the BBC.
• 1989 - Chrissie Hynde claimed she had firebombed a McDonalds. A location of the restaurant was firebombed the next day opening up Hynde for possible legal action.
• 1998 - It was a free-for-all at a London bar when Noel Gallagher of Oasis, Paul Weller and Martin Carr of the Boo Radleys got into a fight.
• 1998 - The Rolling Stones postponed their summer U.K. dates for a year.
• 1998 - Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Sting, Elton John, Pete Townshend and others gathered at St. Martins-in-the-Field church in London for a private service for Linda McCartney.
• 2000 - The head of the New York City Police Benevolent Association urged the group's members to boycott Bruce Springsteen's ten-show run at Madison Square Garden over the singer's song American Skin.
• 2000 - Eminem plead not guilty to charges that he pulled a gun on an associate of the group Insane Clown Posse in Royal Oak, MI.
• 2000 - Sinead O'Connor revealed that she was a lesbian.
• 2003 - Peter Garrett of Midnight Oil was made a Member of the Order of Australia by Queen Elizabeth II.
• 2007 - George Michael was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and lost his drivers license for two years after being found guilty of operating a vehicle while unfit.
• 2009 - Aerosmith was forced to use Bobby Schneck as their guitarist for the beginning of their summer tour when Brad Whitford required surgery for an undisclosed illness.
