• 1966 - Cliff Richard joined Billy Graham on stage in London to talk about his newly discovered Christian faith.
• 1967 - Barbara Streisand performed her A Happening in Central Park concert.
• 1967 - One week after the KFRC festival, the Monterey Pop Festival is held, firmly establishing the concept of the Rock Festival. Performers over three days include the Who, Simon and Garfunkel, Eric Burdon & The Animals, the Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and The Holding Company, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.
• 1967 - The movie Hell on Wheels starring Marty Robbins premiers.
• 1970 - Woodstock Ventures announced that they had lost more than $1.2 million on the festival.
• 1972 - The New York Jazz Museum opened.
• 1975 - John Lennon filed suit against the U.S. government saying they had selectively prosecuted him to deny his immigration.
• 1977 - Beatlemania opened on Broadway.
• 1978 - The film Grease, with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, premiered.
• 1980 - The film The Blues Brothers premiered in Chicago.
• 1982 - Donny Van Zant of .38 Special was arrested during the group's concert in Tulsa, OK for drinking in a public place.
• 1989 - Smokey Robinson branched out by introducing a new women's fragrance. 
• 1995 - Pearl Jam began a new tour with ticketing handled outside the industry standard Ticketmaster.
• 1996 - The two-day Tibetan Freedom Concert is held in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. Over 100,000 attend. Artists included Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Lee Hooker, Beck, Sonic Youth, Yoko Ono, and Richie Havens.
• 1998 - The Recording Academy announced that the Grammys would return to Los Angeles after two years in New York.
• 1998 - The Country Music Association is given the Spirit of Hope Award by the USO for the many country artists who have entertained U.S. troops over the years.
• 1999 - Cher began her 122-date Believe tour in Phoenix, AZ. 
• 1999 - Phil Collins received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
• 2000 - A member of Snoop Dogg's crew was arrested on the first night of his Up in Smoke tour when marijuana is smelled on the tour bus by a border patrol agent.
• 2005 - Motorhead celebrated their 30th anniversary in London.
