1971 - Grand Funk Railroad bettered the Beatles by selling out Shea Stadium in 72 hours.

1975 - Syd Barrett was seen for the last time by any member of Pink Floyd when he showed up at Abbey Road Studios while the group was recording the song Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
1977 - A rat meant to be dinner turns the tables, killing Alice Cooper's snake that he uses in concert.
1980 - The Grateful Dead celebrated their 15th anniversary with a concert in Phoenix.
1987 - Sly Stone surrendered to police over probation violation.

2001 - Japanese officials upheld a ban on Janet Jackson's album All For You because of explicit lyrics.
2002 - Drug charges against Dionne Warwick were dropped after a plea bargain agreement was struck between her attorneys and the Miami-Dade County prosecutors office.
2003 - R. Kelly was not allowed to travel from Chicago to Los Angeles to film a music video. He was still charged with 21 counts of child pornography.
2003 - Carlos Santana announced that the proceeds from his summer tour would be going to AIDS research.
2004 - Ted Nugent and Toby Keith play for G.I.s in Baghdad, Iraq.
2006 - Pete Doherty (Babyshambles, Libertines) checked himself into rehab in Portugal.
