• 1967 - Mick Jagger was found guilty of illegal possession of drugs while at a party thrown by Keith Richards.
• 1968 - Elvis Presley started filming what would become known as his Comeback Special. It would eventually air in December.
• 1969 - The Denver Pop Festival was marred when violence broke out and police came in with clubs and tear gas.
• 1970 - Bill Graham closed the Fillmore East. The final concert featured the Allman Brothers, the Beach Boys and Mountain.
• 1970 - The Trans-Continental Pop Festival (aka Festival Express) began with Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, the Band, the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Buddy Guy Blues Band traveling between cities in Canada by train.
• 1970 - Freddie Mercury made his live debut with the group Smile (soon to be Queen) in Cornwall, England.
• 1976 - John Lennon finally became an American citizen when he receives his green card.
• 1978 - Kansas was selected as the United Nations Deputy Ambassadors of Goodwill, the first time a group was ever chosen.
• 1980 - John Bonham collapsed on stage during a Led Zeppelin show in Nuremberg, Germany.
• 1986 - Black Flag played their last show in Detroit, MI.
• 1987 - Madonna opened the North American leg of her Who's That Girl tour in Miami, FL.

• 1996 - Billy Ray Cyrus carried the Olympic Torch through Nashville.
• 1998 - Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray and Bryan Adams received stars on the Canadian Walk of Fame in Toronto.
• 2000 - A San Francisco appeals court ruled that the Rolling Stones had broken copyright on the Robert Johnson songs Love in Vain and Stop Breakin' Down. Their record company had assumed that the songs were in the public domain.
• 2000 - Gary Barlow was dropped by RCA Records by "mutual consent."
• 2003 - Rapper Mystikal plead guilty to aggravated rape and was sentenced to five year probation.
• 2005 - Ralph Stanley underwent triple-bypass surgery.
• 2005 - The Supreme Court of the U.S. rules that file-sharing networks are liable for copyright infringement performed through their program.
• 2006 - Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses is arrested for allegedly biting a security guard on the leg.
