- 1979 - Nigel Olsson (Elton John's band) ran a stop sign and crashed, killing another driver.
- 1986 - James Hetfield of Metalica broke his wrist while skateboarding. John Marshall of Metal Church took over for the rest of their tour on guitar while Hetfield stuck with vocals.
- 1994 - VH1 shoots its first VH1 Honors special with Melissa Etheridge, Michael Bolton, James Taylor, Kenny G and Garth Brooks.
- 1995 - Elton John received the Polar Music Prize in Sweden.
- 1998 - Italian director Stefano Salvati sued Madonna, saying that the concept of her Ray of Light video was stolen from one that he did four years earlier.
- 2000 - Oasis announced that Noel Gallagher had left the group's European tour.
- 2003 - Deep Purple receive hundreds of complaints from fans when they announce their upcoming album will be called Bananas.
- 2004 - Morrissey started his solo comeback tour with five shows at the Apollo Theater in New York.
- 2004 - Willie Nelson taped a special for the USA Network with Jerry Lee Lewis, Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Al Green, Kid Rock, Merle Haggard and Toby Keith.
- 2006 - Producer Dallas Austin was arrested on drug offenses in Dubai. After intervention by Senator Orin Hatch and Lionel Richie, he was able to plead guilty and receive a royal pardon from the Dubai government.
