  • 1935 - The Hoboken Four, with member Frank Sinatra, appeared on the Major Bowes Amateur Hour.
  • 1956 - Eddie Cochran signed a one-year contract with Liberty Records.
  • 1958 - Dick Clark signed a recording contract with ABC-Paramount Records. His first release is an album by the Bandstanders of current hits.
  • 1961 - Nashville Studio Musician Hank Garland was seriously injured in a car accident, ending his music career.
  • 1965 - An advertisement in Variety announced auditions for the Monkees. Among those who tried and failed were Stephen Stills, Danny Hutton, Paul Williams and Charles Manson.
  • 1974 - David Byrne, Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz move into a loft in New York after graduating from a Rhode Island art school.
  • 1977 - Jimmy McCulloch left Wings to reform the Small Faces while Joe English left to join Sea Level.
  • 1995 - Annie Lennox gave a free concert in New York's Central Park.
  • 1996 - Tupac Shakur had his left lung removed in an attempt to save his life after he was shot the previous evening.
  • 1998 - In Philadelphia, PA, it's Garth Brooks Week.
  • 1999 - Sean Puffy Combs and bodyguard Paul Offered plead guilty to harassment in New York for threatening a record company executive.
  • 2002 - Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden became an pilot for Astraeus Airlines.
  • 2003 - David Bowie played the first interactive concert which was sent to 21 movie theaters in Europe. Audience members could talk to him via ISDN lines.
  • 2003 - Marilyn Manson was found not guilty of assault in St. Paul, MN. Three years earlier, he had rubbed his crotch against a security guards head during a show.
  • 2004 - It was Queen Day in Las Vegas.
  • 2005 - Rod Stewart was ordered to pay the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas $2 million for missing a New Years Eve concert in 2000. 
  • 2007 - Foxy Brown was sentenced to one year in prison for a probation violation.
