  • 1970 - $40,000 of Pink Floyd's equipment was stolen in New Orleans.
  • 1977 - Paul and Linda McCartney became the parents of James Louis.
  • 1980 - A new report on the death of Elvis Presley on 20/20 lead to the reopening of his case.
  • 1986 - Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues collapsed from exhaustion in Los Angeles and was hospitalized.
  • 1986 - John McGeoch of Public Images Ltd was hit with a two-litre wine bottle while performing in Vienna, Austria. He required 40 stitches in his face.
  • 1987 - Michael Jackson opened his Bad World Tour in Tokyo.
  • 1987 - Morrissey left the Smiths.
  • 1988 - Shane Macgowan of the Pogues was hospitalized in Dublin from nervous exhaustion.
  • 1990 - Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks announced they would leave Fleetwood Mac at the end of their current tour.
  • 1995 - A Luciano Pavarotti concert was held in Modena, Italy for the children of Bosnia with special guests Bono, the Edge and Brian Eno.

  • 2002 - A $100 million lawsuit was filed against Whitney Houston by John Houston Entertainment for breach of contract.
  • 2003 - The Beatles sued Apple (the computer maker) saying that their company logo infringed on that for the Apple record label.
  • 2003 - Among those participating at a PETA protest is Olivia Newton-John, Ben Lee, Neil Finn and Daniel Johns of Silverchair.
  • 2004 - A benefit tribute to the Ramones was held in Hollywood with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eddie Vedder, Henry Rollins and X.
  • 2004 - The Pet Shop Boys performed their new soundtrack to the silent film Battleship Potemkin in London's Trafalgar Square.
  • 2006 - Britney Spears gave birth to baby number two.
  • 2006 - Jay Kay of Jamiroquai was arrested for assault after a fight with a photographer outside a London nightclub.
  • 2007 - Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones announced they would reform, with Jason Bonham in for his later-father John, for a November concert salute to Ahmet Ergtegun. 
  • 2008 - Kanye West was arrested for vandalism after breaking a photographer's camera at Los Angeles International Airport.
