1957 - Henry Webb, who would later become Cliff Richard, joined the Dick Teague Skiffle Group.
1958 - Elvis Presley leaves for his new service assignment in Germany.
1960 - Hank Ballard & the Midnighters became the first group to have three songs in the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time (Finger Poppin' Time, Let's Go Let's Go Let's Go, The Twist).
1969 - Creedence Clearwater Revivial had the number 1 song in the U.K. with Bad Moon Rising, something they never achieved in the U.S.
1970 - The first Glastonbury Festival took place with Marc Bolan and T-Rex, Ian Anderson, Keith Christmas, Quintessence, Amazing Blondel and Sam Apple Pie. 1,500 tickets were sold. T-Rex played in place of the Kinks.
1974 - Max Weinberg plays with the E-Street Band for the first time.
1975 - Queen signed with Elton John's manager John Reid.

2003 - Jack Bruce underwent a successful liver transplant.
2003 - A chartered plane carrying the Dixie Cups clips a building at the Glasgow Airport. Nobody is hurt.
2003 - Mike Gordon of Phish has charges of child endangerment and trespassing dismissed.
2004 - Celine Dion signed a contract for an additional year in Las Vegas.
2004 - The Fugees reunited for a single performance in Brooklyn, NY.
2005 - Lil Kim began her prison sentence for perjury.
