• 1929 - Production began on The Singing Breakman, a ten-minute short and the only film starring Jimmie Rodgers.
• 1961 - Brian Epstein saw the Beatles play live for the first time at the Cavern in Liverpool.
• 1962 - Roy Acuff was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He is the first living person to be inducted.
• 1966 - John Lennon and Yoko Ono met for the first time at an art exhibition in London.
• 1967 - The first issue of Rolling Stone was put out in San Francisco.
• 1967 - David Crosby was fired from the Byrds by Roger McGuinn.
• 1975 - Sparks played their last show until 1994.
• 1990 - All of Willie Nelson's bank accounts and property was seized by the Internal Revenue Service to use towards and outstanding $16 million tax bill.
• 1991 - Richard Marx played in Baltimore, New York, Cleveland, Chicago and Burbank (Airport) in one day on the Rush-n Rush Out Street Tour.
• 1995 - Flavor Flav is charged with gun and drug possession while driving a cab in New York.
• 1996 - Liam Gallagher of Oasis was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A controlled substance.
• 1997 - Paul Weller was arrested and jailed for destroying his hotel room in France.
• 1998 - Rick James suffers a stroke after headbanging during a show in Denver.
• 1998 - Ahmet Ertegun and Bobby Blue Bland receive Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Blues Foundation.
• 1998 - Billy Preston, his manager and his manager's wife were indicted on 22 counts of fraud in collecting insurance claims.
• 1999 - The RIAA named the Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975 the biggest selling album of the century and Candle in the Wind 1997 by Elton John as the biggest selling single.
• 2002 - It was announced that Madonna's movie Swept Away would not be released in the U.K. after its poor showing in the U.S.
• 2005 - Ben Harper left the band Yellowcard.
• 2010 - A warehouse in San Carlos, CA that housed instruments, paintings and cars belonging to Neil Young burned.
