  • 1967 - Reg Dwight (the future Elton John) and Bernie Taupin signed with DJM Publishing.
  • 1968 - In Denver, Jim Morrison simply asked the crowd to “stand up” during a Doors concert. That was enough for the authorities to ban the group from ever playing again in the city.
  • 1969 - The Rolling Stones started their sixth North American tour in Ft. Collins, CO.
  • 1970 - MGM Records dripped eighteen acts that “promoted hard drugs through their music” including Connie Francis and the Cowsills.
  • 1988 - John Fogerty won the lawsuit brought against him by Fantasy Records alleging that his The Old Man Down the Road was too much like CCR's Run Through the Jungle.
  • 1991 - Frank Zappa was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
  • 1997 - The Spice Girls fired their manager, Simon Fuller.
  • 2002 - A Guns N' Roses show in Vancouver was canceled after Axl Roses plane was delayed. A riot ensued where twelve people were arrested.
  • 2002 - Bobby Brown was arrested for marijuana possession, driving without a license, speeding and no proof on insurance.
  • 2003 - The Rolling Stones played Hong Kong for the first time.
  • 2003 - David Gilmour received his Commander of the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth.
  • 2006 - Genesis announced they were reforming for a world tour.
