  • 1956 - A man punched Elvis Presley in Toledo, OH, claiming that his wife's love for the singer had broken up their marriage.
  • 1962 - The Beatles auditioned for the BBC. They were turned down.
  • 1964 - The Rolling Stones were banned from the BBC after showing up late for two appearances.
  • 1968 - Peter Grant, manager of Led Zeppelin, finalizes the deal signing them to Atlantic Records.

  • 1987 - Sly Stone was charged in Santa Monica, CA with cocaine possession.
  • 1989 - Paul McCartney played live in the U.S. for the first time in 13 years at the Los Angeles Forum.
  • 1990 - MTV banned the video for Madonna's Justify My Love.
  • 1995 - Garbage made their U.K. live debut in London.
