- 1971 - Elvis Presley started a U.S. tour in Minneapolis, MN. It was the first time the announcement “Elvis has left the building” was used to end calls for an encore.
- 1977 - A Virgin record store manager in Nottingham, England was arrested for putting a poster in his store window advertising the album Never Mind the Bollocks...Here's the Sex Pistols. He was cited for posting indecent advertising.
- 1977 - Ozzy Osbourne quit Black Sabbath. He rejoined a few weeks later.
- 1982 - Brian Wilson was fired from the Beach Boys.
- 1983 - The Clash's Topper Headon was arrested for walking his dog while drunk.
- 1995 - Garbage made their U.S. live debut in Minneapolis, MN.
- 1995 - The Wizard of Oz in Concert plays at Lincoln Center in New York with Jewel as Dorothy, Roger Daltrey as the Tin Man, Jackson Browne as the Scarecrow, Natalie Cole as Glinda, the Good Witch and special appearances by Ry Cooder, Dr. John, Phoebe Snow, David Sanborn and Ronnie Spector.
