  • 1955 - Billboard magazine said that the only two singing stars who “can be considered guaranteed hitmakers these days” are Nat King Cole and Webb Pierce.
  • 1958 - Researchers from Esso warned that rock & roll music could make driving more expensive as the beat may contribute to a heavy foot on the pedals.
  • 1968 - Robin Gibb collapsed from nervous exhaustion just as the Bee Gees were about to start their first U.S. tour.
  • 1976 - John Lennon was finally given a green card by the U.S. government after four years of litigation.
  • 1976 - Bruce Springsteen's career was stalled for over a year after he sued manager Mike Appel for fraud and breach of trust.
  • 1986 - Queen played in Budapest, Hungary, becoming the first western act to play in eastern Europe since Louis Armstrong in 1964.
  • 1992 - Michael Jackson sued Britain's Daily Mirror over an article and photos that said that his face was left severely scarred from numerous plastic surgeries. 
  • 2004 - Courtney Love is given 18 months probation and ordered to attend rehab for a misdemeanor drug charge.
  • 2006 - Chad Kroeger from Nickelback is arrested for drunk driving.
