• 1958 - The RIAA presented its first Gold Record to the soundtrack of Oklahoma.
• 1965 - The Dave Clark Five movie, Catch Us If You Can, premiers in London.
• 1968 - Pink Floyd opened their North American tour in Chicago.
• 1969 - Marianne Faithfull collapsed from a drug overdose while working on the film Ned Kelly. She was dropped from the film.
• 1971 - A small riot occurred at the Mott the Hoople show at London's Royal Albert Hall, causing a short ban on rock shows at the venue.
• 1978 - Joe Strummer and Paul Simonon of the Clash were arrested after being drunk and disorderly during a show in Glasgow.
• 1979 - The B-52's made their live debut in the U.K. 
• 1984 - Bono and Van Morrison join Bob Dylan on stage at Wembley Stadium in London to sing It's All Over Now Baby Blue.
• 1985 - Nude photos of Madonna, taken early in her career, are published by Playboy and Penthouse.
• 1988 - Chico and Robert DeBarge were indicted for drug trafficking.
• 1998 - The home of Foxy Brown is robbed while the rapper and her mother are home. Nobody is hurt.
• 1998 - The estate of Roy Orbison sued Sony Music for $12 million in underpaid royalties.
• 1998 - Nancy Sinatra announced that her father, Frank Sinatra's archive would be donated to the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institute.
• 2000 - Janick Gers of Iron Maiden falls ten feet into the pit of a Mannheim, Germany theater during a performance. He is taken to the hospital where he received a number of stitches.
• 2002 - Michael Jackson appeared at a civil rights meeting in New York claiming that the music business was full of racism, especially towards young black artists.
• 2004 - Scott Weiland of the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver is sentenced to three years probation for a DUI charge.
• 2005 - The funeral of Luther Vandross was held in New York. Attendees included Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and Usher.
