  • 1967 - Vanilla Fudge made their live debut in New York.
  • 1969 - Aretha Franklin was arrested for causing a disturbance in Detroit.
  • 1972 - Paul and Linda McCartney were arrested in Sweden for drug possession.
  • 1977 - Tony Orlando announced he was retiring from performing while performing with Dawn. He had not told anyone of the announcement prior to the show.
  • 1979 - The Reverend Richard Pennman (formerly Little Richard) told his congregation about the evils of rock music. "If God can save an old homosexual like me, he can save anybody."
  • 1984 - Jack Benny Lynn, the oldest son of Loretta Lynn, was killed while trying to cross a river on the family ranch.
  • 1996 - A 30-year-old marijuana conviction kept Donovan from starting a tour in the U.S. when authorities wouldn't allow him into the country.
  • 1996 - The parents of a murdered girl claim that the three boys who perpetrated the crime were influenced by the lyrics of Slayer. A judge later ruled against them.
  • 2005 - John Densmore, drummer from the Doors, won a court case that stopped former bandmates Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger from using the name The Doors of the 21st Century.
  • 2007 - Ja Rule and Lil Wayne, who performed a concert together in New York, were arrested in separate incidents for carrying illegal firearms.
