• 1943 - The Musician's Union strike ended, allowing record companies to begin recording again after a year.
• 1964 - The Rolling Stones were forced to cancel a tour of South Africa due to an anti-apartheid embargo by the British Musician's Union.
• 1966 - John Lennon and Yoko Ono met for the first time at a Gallery in London.
• 1976 - The Sex Pistols signed with EMI for $68,000. They would only be with the label for three months.
• 1977 - Woody Guthrie was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
• 1978 - Grandpa Jones was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
• 1977 - The Clash have to delay a Swedish concert after a bomb scare.
• 1980 - Gary Glitter was declared bankrupt.
• 1981 - Prince opened for the Rolling Stones in Los Angeles. He was booed off the stage after playing in bikini bottoms.
• 1985 - Yoko Ono officially opened Strawberry Fields in New York's Central Park on what would have been John Lennon's 45th birthday.
• 1989 - Hank Thompson, Cliffie Stone and Jack Stapp were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
