- 1976 - The Sex Pistols signed with EMI for $68,000. They would only be with the label for three months.
- 1977 - Woody Guthrie was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
- 1978 - Grandpa Jones was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
- 1977 - The Clash have to delay a Swedish concert after a bomb scare.
- 1980 - Gary Glitter was declared bankrupt.
- 1981 - Prince opened for the Rolling Stones in Los Angeles. He was booed off the stage after playing in bikini bottoms.
- 1985 - Yoko Ono officially opened Strawberry Fields in New York's Central Park on what would have been John Lennon's 45th birthday.
- 1989 - Hank Thompson, Cliffie Stone and Jack Stapp were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
