- 1970 - Jesus Christ Superstar opened on Broadway.
- 1975 - Rod Stewart and the Faces made their final live appearance at Nassau Coliseum near New York.
- 1978 - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark played live for the first time in Liverpool, England.
- 1978 - Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols called police in New York to say that someone had stabbed his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. He was arrested and charged with murder.
- 1981 - Vernon Dalhart and Grant Turner were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
- 1983 - Karen Carpenter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
- 1994 - A scaffolding stand holding 1200 people at a show by Pink Floyd in London collapsed sending 36 people to the hospital.
