- 1967 - Pat Boone performed the National Anthem at the first game of the new American Basketball Association. He was the owner of the Oakland Oaks.
- 1970 - The ashes of Janis Joplin were spread on Stinson Beach in California.
- 1975 - Neil Young had surgery for a growth on his vocal chords.
- 1980 - Johnny Cash and Connie B. Gay were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

- 2002 - The band Muse sued Celine Dion after the singer planned on calling her Las Vegas show Muse.
- 2004 - Ronald Isley of the Isley Brothers was charged with tax evasion.
- 2006 - An annual Diddy Day was announced by Chicago Mayor Richard Daley who gave P. Diddy a pair of cufflinks.
