- 1990 - Sinead O'Connor says she will not perform at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey if the U.S. National Anthem is played before her show.

- 1999 - Elton John is sued over his song Can You Feel the Love Tonight. The songwriter for Glenn Medeiros' Listen to Your Heart contends that John's song is too similar.
- 2001 - The Backstreet Boys resumed their Black & White World Tour 2001 after stopping on July 9 for A.J. McLean to be treated for depression and alcohol abuse.
- 2010 - George Michael plead guilty to driving under the influence of drugs in an incident where he ran his car into the front of a photo shop.
