  • 1959 - Four members of the Platters were arrested in Cincinnati, OH when they were found with four 19-year-old women (three white) and charged with abetting prostitution, lewdness and assignation. They were acquitted but the arrest and publicity led to a blacklisting of the group's records on many stations in the U.S.
  • 1963 - The Browns joined the Grand Ole Opry.
  • 1970 - Elvis Presley opened a four-week engagement at the International Hotel in Las Vegas.
