- 1959 - Four members of the Platters were arrested in Cincinnati, OH when they were found with four 19-year-old women (three white) and charged with abetting prostitution, lewdness and assignation. They were acquitted but the arrest and publicity led to a blacklisting of the group's records on many stations in the U.S.
- 1963 - The Browns joined the Grand Ole Opry.
- 1970 - Elvis Presley opened a four-week engagement at the International Hotel in Las Vegas.
- 1970 - Jim Morrison's trial for indecent exposure began in Miami.
- 1972 - Paul and Linda McCartney were arrested for marijuana possession in Gothenburg, Sweden.
- 1976 - Elton John played the first of ten nights at Madison Square Garden, breaking the Rolling Stones' record set the previous year.
- 1983 - Kajagoogoo fired lead singer Limahl.
