• 1956 - After performing in San Diego, Elvis Presley received notice from the local authorities saying that if he ever returned to the city and performed in the same way, he would be arrested for disorderly conduct.
• 1959 - Bill Anderson debuted at the Grand Ole Opry.
• 1960 - RCA began releasing singles in both stereo and mono, starting with Elvis Presley's Stuck on You.
• 1964 - The Beatles held the top five spots on the Billboard Singles chart with Can't Buy Me Love, Love Me Do, Roll Over Beethoven, I Want to Hold Your Hand and Please Please Me.

• 1965 - John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote Help!
• 1968 - James Brown makes a nationally broadcast appeal for calm after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.

• 2008 - A London Appeals court overturned a ruling saying that Procol Harum's Gary Brooker had to pay 40% of the royalties for A Whiter Shade of Pale to then organist Matthew Fisher. The court faulted Fisher for waiting forty years to file.
• 2008 - The Stone Temple Pilots announced they were reuniting for a major tour.
