• 1952 - The Moondog Coronation Ball, the first rock 'n' roll stage show, was held at the Cleveland Arena in Cleveland, OH. 20,000 tried to attend and authorities shut it down after the first song.
• 1961 - The Beatles played their first show at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.
• 1964 - Judy Collins made her debut at Carnegie Hall.
• 1969 - John Lennon & Yoko Ono started their "bed-in."
• 1973 - The BBC banned all acts that appealed to teens on Top of the Pops after a riot broke out during a David Cassidy performance.
• 1976 - David Bowie and Iggy Pop were part of a drug bust in Rochester, NY.
• 1976 - Claudine Longet shot and killed her boyfriend Spider Sabich in Aspen, CO.
• 1980 - Hugh Cornwall of the Stranglers went to prison on a drug conviction.
