• 1958 - Buddy Holly & the Crickets started their only tour of Britain.
• 1960 - While traveling back from his Army assignment, Elvis Presley's plane stops in England for refueling. It was the only time in his life that Presley was in Britain.
• 1963 - The Four Seasons were the first group to have three consecutive number 1's in the U.S. with Walk Like a Man.
• 1964 - The Beatles started filming A Hard Day's Night.
• 1964 - George Harrison met his future wife Patty Boyd.
• 1964 - Jim & Jesse McReynolds joined the Grand Ole Opry.
• 1974 - Terry Jacks was at number 1 in the U.S. with Seasons in the Sun.
• 1975 - Paul and Linda McCartney were stopped by Los Angeles officer for running a red light. The officer found marijuana in the car and Linda was charged.
• 1983 - The Compact Disc was launched by Sony, Phillips and Polygram.
• 1984 - Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles shut down. It was the home of Phil Spector when he recorded most of his classic hits.
• 1984 - The Whites joined the Grand Ole Opry.
• 1991 - A Wrigley's gum commercial sent Free's All Right Now to the number 2 spot on the U.K. charts.
• 1999 - Neil Young started his first solo tour in over 25 years.
• 1999 - The House of Blues opened in Las Vegas with Bob Dylan and a guest appearance by Bono.
• 2002 - Jerry Lee Lewis was a no show at his induction into the Delta Music Hall of Fame when he didn't like the plane sent to pick him up.
