- 1960 - While traveling back from his Army assignment, Elvis Presley's plane stops in England for refueling. It was the only time in his life that Presley was in Britain.

- 1964 - The Beatles started filming A Hard Day's Night.

- 1984 - Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles shut down. It was the home of Phil Spector when he recorded most of his classic hits.

- 1991 - A Wrigley's gum commercial sent Free's All Right Now to the number 2 spot on the U.K. charts.
- 1999 - Neil Young started his first solo tour in over 25 years.
- 1999 - The House of Blues opened in Las Vegas with Bob Dylan and a guest appearance by Bono.
- 2002 - Jerry Lee Lewis was a no show at his induction into the Delta Music Hall of Fame when he didn't like the plane sent to pick him up.
- 2004 - Metallica opened the North American leg of their Madly in Anger tour in Phoenix, AZ.
- 2006 - Gary Glitter went on trial in Viet Nam on charges he molested two girls aged 11 and 12.
- 2007 - Kelis was arrested in Miami Beach after yelling racial comments at two undercover police women.
- 2009 - Liverpool University introduced their masters degree in The Beatles.
- 2009 - Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) checked into rehab for alcohol.
