  • 1961 - Bob Dylan finds the family of Woody Guthrie in New York and teaches son Arlo Guthrie how to play harmonica.
  • 1963 - Cilla Black performed in public for the first time at Liverpool's Cavern Club.
  • 1963 - Janis Joplin performs in San Francisco for the first time.
  • 1963 - Vee Jay records signed a contract to distribute the Beatles records in the U.S.
  • 1971 - Grace Slick gave birth to a daughter she named god. The baby was later renamed China.
  • 1978 - Joy Division made their live debut in Manchester, England.
  • 1980 - The Specials made their U.S. live debut in New York.
  • 1980 - Paul McCartney is released from a Tokyo prison after being arrested with a half-pound of marijuana.
