  • 1960 - Elvis Presley became a Sargent in the U.S. Army.
  • 1963 - Charlie Watts played live for the first time with the Rolling Stones in London.
  • 1967 - The Human Be-In: A Gathering of Tribes was held in San Francisco with the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Big Brother And The Holding Company. 25,000 attended.
  • 1967 - Cliff Richard said he was retiring from music to teach religion in schools.
  • 1970 - Diana Ross made her last appearance with the Supremes in Las Vegas.
  • 1973 - Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead was arrested on drug charges.
