- 1985 - Michael Jackson received a humanitarian award from Ronald Reagan at the White House.
- 1988 - The 40th anniversary of Atlantic Records was celebrated with a show at Madison Square Garden featuring many of the biggest acts from the label, including a reunion of Led Zeppelin with Jason Bonham on drums.
- 2006 - Aston "Family Man" Barrett, who used to be the bassist for Bob Marley & the Wailers, loses his suit over back royalties against Island Records and Marley's family.
