1965 - Filming for the Beatles movie Help! began in the Bahamas.
1968 - Johnny Cash proposed to June Carter on stage during a show in London, Ontario
1969 - Flatt & Scruggs made their final appearance together at the Grand Ole Opry.
1978 - The Police die their hair blonde for a Wrigley's chewing gum commercial.
1978 - Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen were arrested in New York for drug possession.
1979 - Journey became one of the first rock groups to enter a sponsorship deal with a company, in this case Budweiser.
1988 - Stevie Wonder was given the MusiCares Person of the Year award.
1993 - Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden for a solo career. He came back six years later.
1999 - Jimmy Chamberlin announced he was returning to Smashing Pumpkins.
2000 - Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder and Lauryn Hill join together at an L.A. church to salute the late Curtis Mayfield.
2002 - Little Richard received the NAACP Image Award. He also announces his retirement.
2004 - Bobby Vinton collapsed during a concert in Lancaster, PA. He was revived backstage and refused hospitalization.
