- 1967 - The Monkees announced that they would play all of their own instruments on their albums from now on.
- 1969 - A launch party for Mary Hopkin in London includes guests Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, Linda Eastman and Donovan.
- 1972 - Led Zeppelin canceled a Singapore appearance after officials wouldn't let them off their plane, objecting to their long hair.
- 1974 - David Bowie turned down an offer to write the "Gay National Anthem" from the Gay Liberation group.
- 1978 - In Los Angeles, it was Al Green Day.
- 1980 - The home of John Lydon was raided by police but the only illegal item found was a canister of tear gas.
- 1981 - Island Records introduced the "one-plus-one" cassette with an album on one side and the other side blank for recording.
- 1981 - Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon becomes the longest running album in Billboard chart history (402 weeks).
- 1982 - The stone was stolen from Ronnie Van Zandt's grave. It was found two weeks later.
- 1983 - Marvin Gaye performed the National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game.
- 1988 - Michael Jackson finalizes the deal to buy what would become Neverland Ranch.

- 2001 - Peter Frampton picked up the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the most important prizes in the guitar world.
- 2002 - Julian and Stephen Marley, sons of Bob Marley, were arrested in Florida for marijuana possession.
- 2003 - Australian police find stolen material from the Beatles White Album and Abbey Road sessions that were taken in 1969.
- 2004 - Black Cycle Motorcycle Club canceled the balance of their British Isles tour after guitarist Peter Hayes broke his thumb.
- 2007 - Rod Stewart was paid $1 million to play at billionaire Steve Schwarzman's birthday party in New York.
