- 1971 - Frank Zappa abandoned his concert at the Montreux Casino in Switzerland when the building caught on fire. The blaze was immortalized in Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water.
- 1976 - Pink Floyd's giant, inflatable pig broke free and floated over London.
- 1976 - Bob Marley, his wife Rita and his manager, Don Taylor, were wounded when seven gunmen burst into his house in Kingston, Jamaica.

- 1979 - During a Who concert in Cincinnati, OH turned tragic when 11 people in the audience were trampled to death.
