- 1970 - President Nixon complimented Mike Curb of MGM Records after he dropped a number of artists for supposedly advocating drug use. Among those dropped was Connie Francis.
- 1979 - George Nichopoulos, physician for Elvis Presley, was officially charged with illegally and indiscriminately prescribing over 12,000 pills in a period of 1-2/3 years.
- 1980 - The film 9-to-5 opened with Dolly Parton.
- 1985 - Johnny Paycheck shot a man in a Hillsboro, OH bar. He eventually served two years in prison.
- 1987 - Two girls are crushed to death in the rush in Nashville before a Public Enemy concert.
- 1997 - Marty Raybon of Shenandoah performs for the last time with the group.
- 2001 - Waylon Jennings had his left foot amputated due to diabetes.
- 2001 - Dick Clark sued the Recording Academy charging that they were trying to block artists from appearing on the American Music Awards by saying if they did, they would not be able to appear on the Grammys.
- 2001 - Scott Weiland of the Stone Temple Pilots pled guilty to domestic battery.
- 2005 - Britney Spears sued US Weekly after they writing that there was a sex tape with her and Kevin Federline.
